Title: Pitch Notation
Authors: Mark A. Lackey
Issue Date: 2013
Publisher: Rice University
Abstract: This collection brings together modules that explain how pitch, the highness or lowness of a musical tone, is represented by notes on the lines and spaces of a staff in common Western notation. It is appropriate for those with little or no prior musical training. Topics progress from the rudimentary logic of pitch notation to the more advanced ideas of octaves and intervals that are necessary for understanding a natural harmonic series as it might be represented in musical notation.
