dc.description.abstractThis MIT Sloan Management case study highlights Corning's ability to "recreate" itself with the guidance of the company's Growth and Strategy Council. This is a "best practice" case, illustrating the ways in which well functioning senior teams with appropriate governance mechanisms can make informed tradeoffs about the balance between long and short term investments. It is part of the MIT management studies "Industry evolution" stream. Industry evolution is the study of how industries begin, grow, mature and adapt to changing business environments.
